To the people of Perak, the land title of 999 years is sweet. But is it rational to give them away freely and so easily?
Is this one of the reasons the Jelapang people lit joss sticks and burnt Hee's picture? Are they worried they will not get the property rights of at least 10 generations?
If in year 2500, the State Government wants to use the land for development of high rise apartments or towers like Japan (above), Hong Kong (below), Singapore and Shanghai due to scarcity of land, those holding the land have the property rights not to sell.
The State Government will be in a dilemma to sustain housing for the booming population in year 2500.
People will be homeless and taxes will be high to support the State Government to purchase these land for development.
In the year 2500, the land value will have to take into account that the land titles hold till 500 years later which will be of an absurd value.
The people of this generation do not understand about inter-generational issues. The happiness of this generation might come at the expense of the future generations.
Ask ourselves. Is it better to have a slice of a growing economic cake or the whole of a shrinking cake?
I have never agreed with those who betrayed their voters, including Hee's decision, although she did not crossover as she remains an Independent.
She has betrayed not only the hundreds of DAP members who campaigned for her but the majority of the Jelapang people who chose DAP to lead them.
Protests and demonstrations are perhaps agreeable but are the following actions necessary?
Burning pictures with joss sticks and paper money offerings are very significant acts in the Chinese Buddhist and Taoist religion.
Do not go overboard. You have your democratic rights. But remember what you are doing now.
Remember these pictures.
Over the next four years, if I hear and read any crossover news to Pakatan Rakyat, be it in the Federal Government or any State Governments, I am confident that the same will be done to Pakatan Rakyat leaders.
Barisan Nasional members and supporters will burn your picture next with three joss sticks and perhaps a coffin for the Pakatan Rakyat leaders.
Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Guan Eng, Lim Kit Siang, Hadi Awang, Tian Chua. Are they the voice of democracy and heroes?
All of you who support Pakatan Rakyat forgot about the speeches since March 08 to 15th September 08.
I wonder who uttered those words and who clapped, supported and echoed them.
I will remember.
