The Liability Factor in Youth & Wanita Chief

I will comment on 3 positions of UMNO - Deputy President, Wanita Chief and Youth Chief.

Deputy President of UMNO
  • Congratulations to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. MY is officially the Deputy President of UMNO, Barisan Nasional and will soon be appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia.
  • MY's victory is a clear sign that UMNO is willing to reform and march forward with a strong leadership.
  • All these while, Johor has been the main platform of solidarity and power in UMNO. Now, a true Johorean leader is finally given a chance to lead UMNO.
  • Once elected to the post of Deputy President of UMNO and Barisan Nasional, MY will face a big responsibility when he takes charge of by-elections as Chief.
  • Muhyiddin Yassin will surely be a great asset to UMNO, BN and of course to Malaysia.

Wanita UMNO Chief
  • The movement made their voices heard when Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil was voted into office with a strong margin over incumbent Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz.
  • However, Wanita UMNO must now move their election and campaign machinery straight to Lembah Pantai.
  • For a top Wanita UMNO leader to lose against Nurul Izzah, a very young and untested candidate in the 12th General Election, it is something Wanita UMNO must look at.
  • Wanita UMNO cannot afford to carry the baggage of a loser in General Elections. It will be a great risk politically for the whole of Wanita UMNO if their movement Chief cannot win General Elections.
  • Lembah Pantai must now be the focus of Wanita UMNO.

UMNO Youth Chief
  • Congratulations to Khairy Jamaluddin, an Oxford graduate, who was recently warned for breaching campaign ethics.
  • It is no easy feat to win the Youth Chief election. However, Khairy must see that the majority of UMNO Youth dislikes him.
  • This is clear when the votes for Khir and Mukhriz in total far exceed Khairy's.
  • Traditionally, UMNO Youth Chief will be given a Cabinet post - either appointed as Minister or Deputy Minister.
  • Given that Khairy breached pre-election campaign ethics and the majority of UMNO Youth dislikes Khairy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak must rule out the tradition of Cabinet post for the UMNO Youth Chief this time.
  • Najib cannot afford to have such a liability onboard the new Cabinet to be announced next month.
  • Datuk Mukhriz must now work harder with better policies and stronger grassroot support as I am sure many are still with him.
  • I hope to see Datuk Mukhriz in the front line one day.

Regarding the pic of Anwar at the top right corner of the blog, the caption says, vote him and you risk your future. It reminds me of Australia federal election in 2004, Mark Latham VS John Howard.

Shit will hurled at each other from both sides. Johnnie said, vote latham and you're as good as dead, Mark said, vote baldie and say bye bye to you CWA. Depending on how you look at things, I could put Najib's pic up and say vote him, you risk being "silenced" for good ^^ If both candidates are like shit, wouldn't it be wise to just abstain from voting.

Given that polls for Khir and Mukhriz far exceed that of Khairy, if we turn the table around and assuming Mukhriz won the election his vote would be less than that of Khir and Khairy combined. The same can be said with how mukhriz came out with statement asking Abdullah to resign and resulting in him breaching party's code of conduct.

The new UMNO Youth Chief was found guilty of money politics/corruption.

Why was he allowed to contest? Why was he not suspended? UMNO leadership must answer.

More importantly, why did the youth delegates vote him in, despite his guilt?

Also, why didn't the other 2 contestants come to an understanding for a one on one contest with the new Youth Chief? Maybe the outcome would be different.

Were the other 2 candidates selfish? Were they so bad to the delegates that despite the new Youth Chief being found guilty of corruption, they think he is still better than the other 2?

These are serious and important questions.

Could you please write a new post, discussing this pertinent issue?

Do not congratulate the new Youth Chief just yet.

Hishammuddin Assumes Role Of Umno Youth Adviser

KUALA LUMPUR, March 27 (Bernama) -- Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said he would assume the role of Umno Youth adviser in the three by-elections on April 7.

The former Umno Youth chief said the role was important as he was worried that stiff rivalry between the arch-rivals in the Youth chief post election could have tainted the integrity of the movement.

"As Umno Youth adviser, I think I can continue to play my usual role as there had been disappointment among those, who could not accept the verdict very well.

"But all quarters must accept the fact. The decision has been made. It saddened me as I had Umno Youth under control and united for 11 years, but it could not be continued by the new leader.

"But I am confident, Insya-Allah (God willing). I will be worried. Definitely not after 11 years, I just cannot leave it just like that... no," he told reporters here today.

Hishammuddin, who is also Education Minister, said he hoped the new Youth leadership headed by Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar would concentrate on the three by-elections.

Umno Youth should close ranks in the face of the by-elections as the first hurdle under the new leadership, said Hishammuddin.

He hoped Khairy would fulfill his promise of mending the fence between his supporters and that of the two contenders, Datuk Seri Mohamad Khir Toyo and Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir.

1.Congratulations to Muhyiddin. I'm not going to give more comment on him since he's always been my number one guy for the post

2.As for Ketua Wanita,I personally prefer Rafidah rather than Shahrizat. But,since the result went the other way,it's ok though.

3.Talk about Izzah, well, during the last GE,many people were furious with BN. So,no matter who you put to face the opposition,it's going to be tough for BN. She faced Izzah,Anwar's daughter, therefore her defeat is not suprising at all.

4.Here comes the PEMUDA. I have to say that the election for Ketua Pemuda is a sad case. A guy who had been served earlier on with a warning for ethical misconduct, went on to win the post. What a shame.

5. Another thing which disappointed me is that anti-Khairy's votes were split into two:Mukhriz and Khir Toyo. Had any of these two decided to go for other post instead,Khairy might have to kiss his dream goodbye.

6.Nonetheless,he could be all alone in UMNO's leadership. Most of the other top leaders,I believe, are not in his camp. I hope my guess is right.

7.By the way,the Ketua Pemuda will not necessarily be a Minister. Zahid Hamidi is the living example of this.
