To The World , This is Malaysia

Of course the Royal Malaysian Police has done us proud once again ! Thanks to the marvellous Youtube , we can now put Malaysia on the roadmap and achieve our image as global partner with peaceful and harmonious society !

Hurray ! This is what we call Malaysia Truly Asia ! Indeed Malaysia is no different from the fist fighting MPs in Taiwan , from the demonstrators in Hong Kong and Korea as well as Japan , from the martial laws in Thailand and Myanmar !

Oh no no ... we are different . We are more "civilized" in that sense ... because our Royal Malaysian Police did us proud ! Malaysia .... Truly Asia .

I was sooooooooo proud to see Malaysia's image when I was reading through Jeffooi's blog. Let me give you the wonderful Malaysia's image links here ... courtesy of Youtube's users .

1. Mr Mustafa Ali , PAS Election Strategy Director at the compound of Malaysian Parliament . YB Kulasegaran repeatedly asked the policemen to show the court order.... well ... the policeman did flash a few pieces of A4 paper only ... haha ....

2. Wah ... this is so much like the SWAT team's actions .... where the barge in and drag some one out .... but normally I think these procedures are applied to a terrorist or a criminal or perhaps to save a victim at a hostage scene .... but applying these on a Tan Sri ? FYI , Tan Sri is a honorific title given only by the DYMM Yang di Pertuan Agong Malaysia . I repeat ... ONLY !

3. This can be a video evidence of the brutality of Malaysian Police where the person in custody of the Police was hit . The officer who did that should be sacked and charged in the Courts of Malaysia under the Federal Constitution on the basis of assault and perhaps abuse of power .

Yeah , well there are many more .... visit Jeff's blog to find out . I am so proud of you Malaysia ! The elections will come soon ... I have seen people setting up stalls at Pasar Malam showing videos like these .... so faham - fahamlah .....

Whatever you do these days , there are black and white evidences , there are videos . And these will not lie ... I remember what the Muslims always say ... Allah hu akbar !! The word means Allah is Great ...(If I'm not mistaken) ....

Although I am not a Muslim , I am always reminded by this word ... because it also means God is Great ....

Dear YAB Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi ....on July 28th 2006 . Your son-in-law was captured in picture and published in front page mainstream media together with approx 10,000 people held a demonstration with anger towards the United States . KJ stormed into the Asean Regional Forum while Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice was in there . How did that happen ? Our Malaysian Police and Federal Reserve Unit can prevent people from entering the Palace grounds but not the convention centre where Miss Rice was in with Secret Service also around I believe ?!?

Arrest your son-in-law too ! Be impartial ! Be fair to all Malaysians .... the Bersih walk was no different from your son-in-law's walk !! Bersih's was for democracy and a fair and just elections ! KJ was for the Palestinians and Lebanese ...

It is never too late to arrest your son-in-law now Pak Lah ! Just do it ! If you need a reminder ... let me help you ...

Dec 10th - My First Experience

On Dec 10th , I was scheduled for a thyroid nodule operation .

While in ISH , I was monitored by Dr Giritharan , my long time family physician specialist . The surgery was carried out by Dr Loo Voon San , a senior and top surgeon in Perak . The anaesthetician for my operation was Dato' Dr Jena .

Many thanks to all the doctors and nurses . More importantly , thank you to my parents who helped me when I was in hospital from Dec 10th till Dec 11th evening . I was allowed to discharge on Dec 11th for rest at home . The surgery was successful .

Earlier on in Australia , doctors found by accident through ultrasound that there was a thyroid nodule . In fact , many human beings are walking with thyroid nodules . Many are advised to go through a Fine Needle Aspiration with about 90% accuracy to determine if it is cancerous or not .

I did that in Australia and the pathologist needed more samples . I was scheduled for another round of FNA but I rejected it and want my case to be handled by Malaysian doctors . I went for a check under Dr Giri after a few days of arrival in Ipoh . Dr Giri could not feel anything physically at my neck . So I was told to go for an ultrasound .

By looking at the nodule , it was small and nothing to worry about . But he told me that I will need to do yearly check ups , perhaps FNAs when necessary . The other action was to remove part of the thyroid .

So that was what I chose after having another consultation with Dr Loo . I don't want to see the doctors every year just to check on one small nodule at my thyroid . Moreover , there is the 10% chance remaining that might cause it to be cancerous and thyroid cancer is among the easiest to cure !

When Dr Loo filled up the forms for surgery , my God .... he commented that he can see I was already shivering at his clinic . He calmed me down and explained to me all the details of the operation . I went as far as googling about this surgery , the procedures and the images of this surgery . So I was pretty prepared . I kept it a secret except for a few close friends who knew about my scheduled op . Thanks for calling Sue Ann , Jimmy and others .

After the op , Dr Loo told my mom after the op while I was still under the influence of General Anaesthetic (GA) that the nodule was small and he removed the left thyroid . According to his initial judgement , it was nothing to worry about .

Well , whatever it is , I can sit on a chair and type this blog entry now . But speech wise , I can't speak loud yet . I still have some swelling and pain to handle , but I guess I am all right for now . All healthy .... but I have to go through the boring diet of porridge everyday till I am comfortable !

It was a hell of an experience and I tremored in pre-operation time . But in the waiting room outside the operation theatre , I realise many patients have greater surgery than mine . Some went for angioplasma , there was a pakcik with problems at his left leg , there was also another who needed an operation at the spinal cord . The nurses didn't give me much attention in the operation theatre while waiting for my turn . They told me my surgery is minor ... they gave me a heart calming jab .... but I think my heartbeat raced even faster anyway !

So I guess I was all right while laying there waiting for my turn to be given a "sembelih" session . Dato' Dr Jena and his team pushed me into the operation room then to paste those heart monitoring stuff on my body . Then he injected the anaesthetic into my left hand . Within 5 seconds , I lost control of myself .

Soon , I heard a voice calling me "Sir , sir ... wake up .... it's over already" . At that time , all I wanted was painkillers and someone to hold !! After about 20 minutes , I was ready to go back to the ward ... sis and mom was outside waiting for me . I was glad my surgery was over .

Many thanks to all the nurses and specialists of Ipoh Specialist Hospital for all that you have done .... I appreciate it and keep up the good work !

Meantime , I might not be logging in to my blog or reply any emails or messages or calls ... I need time to rest and I want my loud voice back ASAP ! So all of you out there , take care and have a good holiday !

What A Joke !!

Wah .... 500 policemen and a chopper ...... just to guard 100 lawyers in today's walk ! And KL City Council officers took down banners and placards at Bar Council without a warrant ?

Oh my my .... dear Datuk Bandar KL , you are in such deep trouble .. but let us not all forget about our judiciary system . It has elements of politics from the ruling party in it .... so .... if the Bar Council President wants to take action , maybe she should think twice :)

All right ... freedom of expression is only available online .... but I guess not for long ! I remember KJ and UMNO Youth barge into a US delegation meeting led by Condoleeza Rice in KL . I believe it was in front pages of the mainstream media too . Wah .... was KJ arrested ?

Itu lagi lah malu YAB PM Malaysia ! US is our major partner in terms of trade , partnership , etc . It is also a global power . Isn't it harmful to our image and bad for foreign investors to see the tightest security for US Secretary of State being cracked open by KJ ?

Or was it "allowed" ? Hmm ..... tsk tsk .... the peaceful walk of lawyers and peaceful Bersih walk was dangerous to society ..... bad for the image of the country ... shameful to the foreign investors etc . But KJ's act of charging into Miss Rice's place was all right .... no problem at all ?!??!

Hmm .... in the long run , justice will prevail .

December 10th

This is gonna be one hell of a day for me .... haha .... will let you guys know more perhaps a few days after Dec 10th .... but pray for my best ...

Anyway , to comment on other things , HINDRAF has links to terrorists ? Hmm .... I am wondering what the hell does that mean !?

I remember seeing Jeff Ooi posting a Youtube video of a group of kids dressed in terrorists ski masks with some Islamic verses as backdrop etc . These kids threatened the safety and life of Mr Wee aka ... the Negaraku rapper . I think these guys are even more dangerous than HINDRAF . Why didn't our IGP go find out who these guys were and arrest them ?

I doubt the IGP and PDRM are doing the job with their motto Bersih dan Cekap ..... I believe our PDRM forces are lop sided .

I don't know why our UMNO leaders are playing the racial cards . Starting with Datuk Wira Ali Rustam ..... then we have Khir Toyo ..... initially we had the keris problem from UMNO Youth Chief , we even had problems from KJ . But of course not only UMNO plays that . Many other parties play the racial card . When then can we realise a Bangsa Malaysia ?

I am surprised Rockybru and other bloggers are very much into achieving a united Malaysia . Now we have an MP from Parit Sulong trying to be a hero .... calling for the removal of non Islamic signs in missionary schools .

Hello Mr MP .... let me give you an example of SMK St Michael Institution . This school is in Ipoh , Perak . An excellent premier school . Let me tell you about the many signs of un Islamic and un Malaysian statues , art and design located in many parts of the building . We even have a La Sallian Brothers Quarters for the Reverend and Brothers and their staff to stay .

Any problems ? Not at all ! In SMK St Michael , we can see Malays , Indians and Chinese joking and playing with each other , studying and helping each other !!

I enjoyed my days in Ipoh being friends with my Malay pals ... I sit with a Malay guy all throughout my studies there . His name is Hafiz Harun . My good friend and he is in UiTM now with another friend of mine Azlan . I even had Indian friends .... Chinese friends .

My school teachers are so close to me .... I even have a teacher called Mr Rajan who calls me brother .... we shake hands and joke about everything together ..... I even have Malay teachers who are so fond of the students .... we live in St Michael's like a family . I even have a Malay teacher called Encik Sidek who is so dedicated and teaches with full spirit ... this is the spirit which we call it as The Michaelian Spirit .

We live and fight together . The current Principal is Mr Poon and I do not know him at all ... but the former Principal is Mr Louis Rozario .

He punishes those who are racial . He scolds teachers who are racists . He teaches students to love each other . He doesn't care whether you are Malay , Chinese or Indian . He practices democracy and equality . In schools , we are allocated about 4 days of leave at least . Mr Louis Rozario announced every time that he will apply only one day off for each race . Hari Raya Haji , CNY , Deepavali , Good Friday .

And that's it . No extra no less .... any extras will be for Sports Day , Teachers' Day . Did we have any problems in school ? No ... all teachers enjoyed teaching in St Michael's Institution .

Each time any student or any team or any teacher brings any trophy or championship back to SMI , he will make sure everyone knows that person by calling him or her to the stage during the daily assemblies . Many were motivated to do better and many were challenging each other to win something as they all wanted to go up the stage .

All students are willing to come to SMI ..... I used to hear from the school authorities that there are at least 1000 students in the waiting list each year !

In SMI , Mr Louis came in and revamp the system . He used the system of helping the least , the last and the lost . We always hear about it on Monday assemblies . In SMI we do not promote favouritism . We only focus on the last , the least and the lost and bring them up to excel like everyone else .

That is why in this school , we live in harmony . I will not deny the problems of gangsterisme in SMI , the problems of smoking etc . But in SMI , the gangsters do not fight . Mr Louis personally stand around school and get tip off of fightings . Mr Louis goes around at 6am near the school to check on those who loiter and smoke . And whoever does not tuck in their school uniform outside school be it in mall or outside buying food or going for tuition , these students will be punished . During his time , all students tuck in their uniform whenever they are wearing it . Nowadays though , the discipline level has dropped after Mr Louis retired .

Did we have any problems ? No .

What I am saying here is not all about Mr Louis' life or SMI's great legacy . But I am telling you the harmony we had . It was all due to the happy life we shared , no racism , no racists statements , no favouritism , great leadership under an excellent Principal who received an award AMN from Sultan Perak Sultan Azlan Shah .

So you see .... why the shouting of racial chauvinism !?? Are we happier if another May 13 occured ? So please stop all these nonsense . Leave it to the General Election . Whoever we are unhappy with , "Sack Them" .

I would prefer a better administration . And I believe if this goes on .... and in year 2020 if Malaysia declares that she has achieved Vision 2020 , I would like to call upon the Attorney General or Bar Council to sue the Prime Minister in year 2020 . Because I don't think the Bangsa Malaysia objective has been achieved at all .

Let us all stop these racism . Racial tensions have to be put off . Otherwise , we are gonna live in a real Tanah Tumpah Darahku where plants are covered in red , tar roads are coated with red , cars splattered with red , shops and food in red .... and this red is what we call "Blood" .

Enough is enough . We should stop all these nonsense . If there is a problem , we look into it . And not put it off just like that . What if the economists in MTEN calculated wrongly and the Indians were really left behind in the NEP ? What if the policymakers really did not include the poor Malays and the Chinese ? What if the Opposition was right by saying that NEP only helped those connected to UMNO ? What about those Malays not connected to UMNO ? I can see that Kelantan suffers from Federal Government assistance . Other states receive a lot of help from Federal Govt . I can see that many Malays are still with low education , joining the street racing , backward etc . I can see that many Indians are with low education as well .... fighting and drinking alcohol . I can see many Chinese are still cheating for money , with low education , taking drugs .

What then are the government policies for ? I wonder . One day , we should all read the Manifesto of Barisan Nasional . We take the election promises for granted . The Star , NST , Utusan Melayu etc should conduct a survey and check how many Malaysians read the manifestos of political parties especially Barisan Nasional .

I doubt the percentage reaches 20% .

That's all ..... let us pray for better days ahead for Malaysia .....

Amazing Kevin

I just read from Jeff Ooi's blog about Kevin Rudd . Watched his video . Wow . Amazing .... Australian PM Kevin Rudd speaks great Chinese !! Even my dad was shocked ... haha ... I would say that Mr Kevin speaks better Mandarin than I do ..... better vocab definitely !

Dec 1st - Dec 6th

Dec 1st
Went down early morning with parents to Shah Alam to check out the Setia Alam property . The township development there was just great . It is still currently developing . After that , went to Mid Valley to meet Sue Ann after so long . Haha . She's still funny and lovely .

Dec 2nd
My good friend Chee Yeong and Jimmy crapped all the way with me to Ipoh via CY's Honda Accord . Reached home around 2pm . Went out for some Ipoh Hor Hee ... basically it is just koay teow with fish cakes , fish ball ... in soup . Then , went to Sri Maju HQ to pick up Yu Jin who came all the way from Sg Petani .

Cool . At night we went for seafood at Menglembu ... Restoran Wah Chai . It is one of the best in Ipoh .

Went for a movie at TGV Kinta City .... a totally ridiculous Hitman show . I heard Beowulf is even worse . After the late movie , we went to Oldtown Kopitiam Cafe .... had some nice refreshing drinks and went home after that .

Dec 3rd
Went to the Ipoh old town for the ever famous Hakka Mee . Then , we visited all the three caves in Ipoh . Perak Cave , Kek Lok Tong , Sam Poh Tong . Bought some pomelos from Mom's friend .
I had no idea Perak Cave had a hill to climb . I had a terrible time climbing it .... haha ... great exercise though .

Lunch was at the old town again . This time we had the famous Kai Si Hor Fun .... koay teow soup with chicken shreds . Ordered the famous satay and popiah too . After that , I can't remember what we did .

Haha . But dinner was taugeh ayam ! Ipoh's famous bean sprouts and chicken ..... the shop was closed sadly . Restaurant Lou Wong . We went the one opposite instead .... Restaurant Onn Kee . And it is the same because these two shop owners are brothers .... but due to rivalry and perhaps misunderstanding , the Onn Kee boss quit Lou Wong and set up the current shop .

After dinner , we went to Ipoh Jaya for pasar malam ... my 2nd time there in my whole life ! I normally go to the pasar malam at Stadium Perak . Dad drove us around Ipoh and we stopped by Lat's house . Yes I know where he lives . Haha .

Dec 4th and 5th
All of us woke up late but we still manage to get a place for Pork Noodles in Ipoh which cost RM5 a bowl . Haha . Ordered some sui gao ( dumplings ) also . Had a filling breakfast and it was all back to the highway !

Left for Bukit Tambun . Arrived there to get some seafood lunch at 12pm . But this shop was superbly weird . They didnt have "Lai liu har" , didn't have any soft shell crabs !!!

So it was a simple prawn - fish - sotong lunch ! Arrgh .

Arrived in Penang and visited Khoo Kongsi . It was very difficult to find it . In Penang it was basically eat , eat and eat . We ate about 5 meals a day at least . We visited Queensbay Mall , Gurney Plaza , Prangin Mall , Komtar , the Fort Cornwallis and .... hmm ... can't recall if there were any other places ....oh yes .... Gurney Drive .... the Esplanade ... etc . We even ate the famous cendol ... but hygiene wise ... I would rate it C+ because they sell it at back lanes though it is delicious .

Bought tau sar pneah home for mom and dad . And visited Kek Lok Si temple . While descending from the Pagoda at Kek Lok Si , clumsy Wei Liang aka me fell down the stairs . It was slippery and my butt just thumped down at least 6 steps . Could have been more if not for the Indian uncle in front of me . He helped stop me from falling more and carried me up . Haha . He was nice .... thankfully I was all right !

Headed off to SP after that . Arrived in SP and Yu Jin took us around town for a quick view . Went out dinner with his parents . Then it was off to cyber cafe to play DOTA . Haha ... how sad . We actually played once in Ipoh against unknown people there and we got scolded for being amateurs and some even called us noobs ! Well this shows how bad we are in computer games .

Dec 6th
Woke up really early and headed off to this shop selling Wan Than Mee . Apparently you have to take a number for your order . Arrgh ....

But it was worth waiting coz I think the noodles was nice . I even bought some pau from another stall and they were tasty too !

Yu Jin drove us to Alor Setar and we started lookin for someone's home . We found it after some difficulty . The signboard was misleading initially till we ask a Mak Cik . She told us the way and we found it . Anyone recognize this ?

Yep yep .... it is Rumah Kelahiran TDM ! We are not allowed to take pictures inside but I took a snapshot from the outside . Inside , we get to see the rooms , furniture , pictures , articles , certificates etc . There are two other buildings for exhibition of Tun's items , history etc . It was great to able to see it .

And then , we headed off to the Muzium Padi . Sigh . This is one terrible place to find . The signboards are either small , misleading , or not to be seen ! We had to ask for directions twice ... but upon entering the museum , I was fascinated by the piece of art at the viewing gallery . It was like entering planetarium . The walls are spherical . And the walls are not really walls ... it was all art . And the piece of art look so damn real !!! But it is really an art !

I wonder who the artist was . I am unhappy that there weren't any articles of notices or story of this marvellous piece of art .... not even anything on the artist !

Those of you who have not been there , please do go there to see this piece of art . There were lots of people there and my aunts even go there just to see it from as far as KL .

After that , we headed back to SP for lunch . And that was the end of our holz . Had to say "see you" to Yu Jin and his family and we went back to Ipoh . CY and Jimmy drove back from Ipoh to KL . So yeah .... it was a great holiday !

Pictures

The picture above was taken at Khoo Kongsi . We were given circular stickers as entry passes . What was left can be seen below behind Yu Jin's shirt .... Jimmy did it on Yu Jin ..... and he walked all over Fort Cornwallis with that "pattern" . And the last picture was Jimmy with Sir Francis Light ....

Good bye Mr Howard

A great Prime Minister undeniably for Australians . I believe his lost of his seat and government can be attributed to differences of population tastes . Tastes and preferences have changed . People in Australia wanted something new ... something fresh ....
Mr Howard has been there for 11.5 years . But all the years he has been there , he did good job economically and politically . Though we all have differences of opinions in the war issue , we cannot rule out the fact that he has done alot and dedicated his years to the people of Australia .
As I am writing , I am watching live TV of Kevin Rudd's speech at The Australian paper website . I sure hope he does well !

Not gonna blog again anytime soon .... perhaps till I have the mood and time . Currently my study aka computer room has turned into a zone of books .... sis having SPM . So yeah .... not much space for me to use my ADSL and my laptop . Haha .

See ya guys around !

WOW !!!!!!

Congratulations Bersih and the 40000 people who rallied at KL !! Never at any moment of yesterday did I expect the memorandum to successfully arrive at the gates of the Palace . Though I did hope that history is created .... and it did ! Amazing crowd ...

Anyway , I believe many more could have attended if not for the road blocks , arrests and traffic jams be it in non-KL states or inside KL . These could have put the protestors on a step back ... and also with the pouring rain over there ... it might demotivate people .

Rain huh .... cloud seeding again ? Or is it really natural rain yesterday ? Hmm . I hope no one was hurt as it was meant to be peaceful though illegal . Perhaps Pak Lah should not be too confident about going straight into elections instead of listening to problems like this .

You never know what to expect from all voters since there exists a medium of communication called Internet and since there exists a growing knowledgeable society .

But then , of course our friend Datuk Seri ZAM has the statistics of yesterday's event . Allow me to pick from Agendadaily.com

Read the last paragraph . Datuk Seri ... betul ke kebanyakan penonton di Malaysia ketawa melihat kelakuan dan aksi wartawan Al Jazeera ?

First of all ... they are foreigners .... and what more to say journalists . Journalists' words reach millions in a minute or two . And if that happens , boom !! You will see our image getting smashed ... you will see a dip in financial sectors .... etc .

And I can't believe our Statistical Dept is so efficient !! The demonstration happened yesterday .... and you can then say it on TV that "KEBANYAKAN ORANG DI MALAYSIA KETAWA MELIHAT AKSI WARTAWAN AL JAZEERA" ??

Wow . Haha ... I wonder what Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz will say ..... what Pak Lah will say .... what Khairy will say ....

Maybe Datuk Seri Nazri will say "Mereka ini Bodoh" ... maybe Pak Lah will say "Saya pantang dicabar .... nanti tengoklah !" .... maybe Khairy will say "Semalam ada 40 ribu beruk" .

Yes yes ... you never know ...... now we all can begin to ponder , wonder , think , and wait to see what can our constitutional King do .

A Country Rich in Diversity

Happy Deepavali to all my Hindu friends . It will be nice if I can get my hands on my neighbour's curry now !

Actually Malaysia is a very wonderful place . Take a moment and ponder . Though politically we might have quarrels , and we might have spikes in our friendship at times .... but festivals always unite us all .

That is why I believe Malaysia has managed to keep together as a united nation for 50 years all because of the many festivals and celebrations we all have . Happy mood in Malaysia comes almost every month on average !

Happy Deepavali .

Winter in a Summer

Well , over the last few days , Canberra experienced rain ..... and when I mean rain ... it is really rain . We rarely have any rain except for the drizzles .

It was really a stormy night two days back I think . This morning I wake up feeling cold . I thought it should be getting warmer .... because after all ... it is summer . Cold days only happen a few days in summer .

Turned on my Yahoo Widgets a moment ago . Was extremely surprised with the 5 day forecast . Temperature today is 11-17 deg , Wed 10-16 deg , Thurs 10-17 deg , Fri 11-17 , Sat 11-17 . Wind chills are approximately 11 deg . These temperature seems more like autumn or winter to me than summer .

Winter in a summer .

Ku Bantah Cadangan Umno Overseas Club

Yes that's right . You read the title of this post correctly . I strongly object to the proposal by UMNO Overseas Club to reinstate Bahasa Melayu as the national language .

The following is an article from The Star :

Group: Rename the national language Bahasa Melayu

KUALA LUMPUR: The Overseas Umno Clubs Alumni will submit a resolution to the supreme council to reinstate Bahasa Melayu as the national language. Alumni deputy chairman Datuk Rais Zainudin said that although the term for the national language now was Bahasa Malaysia, it was still the Malay language. “It is only proper to use the original term instead of renaming the language,” he said. For example, in the United States the official language is the English language, not American language. The term “English” is retained to indicate the origin of the language. The call to reinstate Bahasa Melayu was among several resolutions passed during the Third Malay Agenda Seminar: Malays 2057 – 1st Series: Politics at PWTC here yesterday.

To those who don't know , Malaysia used to be known as Tanah Melayu . Due to the independence conditions granted by the Brits , we became Malaya and soon together with Sabah and Sarawak , we are now the popular Malaysia Truly Asia nation .

The same goes for our national language . It is true that the Malay language became the national language . For harmony and unity , after going through changes here and there in title , we have gone back to calling it Bahasa Malaysia .

Reasons for doing that I believe coincide with the Vision 2020's statement .... "To create a united Bangsa Malaysia" . Why then is UMNO Overseas Club proposing to change it back to Bahasa Melayu ?

Could it be there is a sense of insecurity that the identity of Malays will be taken away ? Impossible . If by languages spoken we can identify the race of a person , then I definitely can be a mainland Chinese , a Hong Kee , a Malay .... perhaps partly Japanese too . My dad could even be partly Indian because he can speak a little of it since his mates working in his plant used to be Indians .

So why is UOC pressuring the UMNO led government of Malaysia to do so ? One wonders why . It would be making a fool of the Cabinet if they revert it back . It would seem like the government has lost all control and are willing to kowtow to any groups or lobbyists .

Malaysia evolved from Malaya which in turn came from the name Tanah Melayu . For unity and harmony , we all called Malaysia our home . Why can't we call it Bahasa Malaysia then ? I believe the English had many "clans" last time . But they were all united under one national name called English and it is now the international language though till today I can't understand why the Japanese and Koreans can excel without it .

So I believe it is a wise choice to keep it as Bahasa Malaysia and let life move on from there . Make it an identity for Malaysia . It has been 50 years . We have not even synchronized our identity yet . How then can we take the world by storm ?

One wonders .

Crisis for Me

Firstly , exam this morning was tough ... too theoratical .... sigh ... that's Financial Economics . Anyway , hm . Just got some bad news from home about Hong Kong trip .

Booked during Matta Fair . The tour agency Tropical Touch from Ipoh had some attractive package of HK-China tour . Dad liked it and chose it for the family . We were told or rather "assured" that flights to HK will be in the morning . Mom said HK was nice during her last trip few years ago and she wants to extend another two nights .

So .... I did the searching and booked a reasonably priced hotel for the extensions . We told the tour agent that our return flight is preferably in the evening or late noon . We were again "assured" .

Today , mom told me the agent said our flight to HK will be in the late noon and return flight is early morning around 11am . So much for assurance !!!?!?

So mom went to my Australian flight ticketing agent (another firm) and she was helpful in checking the system of flights to and from HK . We found out that there are other flight times still available !! Mom asked Tropical Touch for a refund of just the ticket prices but we will still go for the tour package because we wanted other flight times and Tropical Touch couldn't do it for us . Mom wanted to ask her friend to book just the flights for her .

Guess what's the refund ? RM 1315 . According to mom's friend , the cost of the ticket is actually RM 1340 + tax of RM 197 . And the refund .... obviously Tropical Touch have swallowed up at least RM 197 ... and let me remind you .... thats RM 197 per person . I have four people in my family including me !

Sayonara Proton !

Well well . Just received a comment that I should put a chatterbox in my blog . I will do so later once I return to Malaysia . Kinda busy these days . I'm having exams beginning 2nd November .... ending 14th November .

After that , will be rushing to Sydney for 1 0r 2 nites to meet up with some friends , shop and dine ... get some nougat perhaps . And then ... will be flying back on 17th November via my favourite and one and only airline - MAS !

Didn't really had time to blog but I read that Pak Lah and Nik Aziz are having a good relationship . This is good especially for UMNO and PAS and the world of crazy politics . I hope their "show" during the ECER launch in Kelantan was sincere . And I wish both of these two senior politicians all the best in future .

However , after reading another news at http://www.kickdefella.wordpress.com/ , I was surprised with some of the photos (shown below) .

This was the car at the airport awaiting for Pak Lah . I wonder if this official car is from KL to be used by the PM or was it an official car provided by Kelantan Government ?

I used to remember during Tun Dr Mahathir's time , there was formal notices that Government officials who are given official cars need to ensure that the cars are from Proton . And that time , cars were Proton Perdana .

But if I'm not mistaken , the car in the picture is a BMW ? Of course we still can remember BMW buying over MV Augusta's division for about RM 300 million ..... and yet we sold the whole MV Augusta for RM 4 . What happened to the business plan to turnaround the terrible performance of Proton after Tengku Mahaleel was forced to quit ? We all wonder what magic "Harry Potter" can do for Proton .
I guess we now know the answer ... bye bye Proton .

All right then ... all the best for finals to all my friends ...

Once Upon A Time

I remember once during Tun's hammering of Pak Lah's administration , officials and Ministers come forth saying that the country has more press freedom , more freedom of expression ... and basically more freedom here and there after Pak Lah took over !

We even have statistics showing that . Unless of course my memory failed me , these were to show off to the public how "bad" Tun Dr Mahathir was and how "good" the current admin was . These days , Malaysia's ranking achieved the best ever corrupted nation standings .... best ever here means new high record for corruption . And we achieved a lower press freedom ranking .

But here we have.... Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin reportedly said that we should not bother about RSF ... the organization that showed how "good" Malaysia is in terms of press freedom . RSF is a very famous and credible organization . My research on Freedom Of Expression - Should we limit freedom of expression - was partly based from work and details on RSF . It is certainly highly credible . This I can assure you .

Now . We should all treat these statistics as "not true measures" , "don't bother about it" , "not a reflection of the situation" ... etc etc etc .

In future , if these Ministers come forth saying .... "Seeeeee , we have improved in corruption rankings !!" , then we should always ignore and tell these Ministers "eleh ... not true measure la Datuk .... last time you told us we should ignore it" .

I was furious when Datuk Seri Zainuddin started to sing another tune and helped in silencing Dr Mahathir , attacking him etc .

You will know why when you read the book personally written by ZAM ... and published as The Other Side of Mahathir . A good book to read on ....

Anyway .... once upon a time statistics used to be trusted and highly revered ... these days in Malaysia , Ministers say we should ignore it .

Kegilaan "Senior Vice President UMNO"

I believe in the principles of Barisan Nasional . The many pillars that hold firm the unity of the country formed and seated together in Barisan Nasional .

Many have forgotten the challenges BN faced . Many have forgotten the sacrifices of the main founding fathers of BN .

http://malaysia-today.net/blog2006/corridors.php?itemid=9193

Read this here . Malaysiakini reports the same . Even TheStar reported it . But RPK is a political analyst and he is the cousin of Sultan of Selangor . I believe he has the credibility ... with support from TheStar's news as evidence of this case .

Datuk Ali Rustam .... memang tak betullah kalau Datuk nak kata macam itu . I know that the PPP President and its Youth Chief are troublesome at times . Datuk Kayveas is always having issues with Gerakan , with DAP ... now with UMNO . I know that the PPP Youth Chief was impolite to shout out "Give us back our seats" right at the assembly hall when the event was crawling on .

I do not know whether that sparked off the craziness trapped in Datuk Ali . Maybe his position as CM of Malacca is too strenuous and driving him nuts ? I don't know . Maybe the demands by PPP are pressuring him ? I don't know . Only you know what happened to yourself Datuk Ali .... I think you are formally known as Datuk Wira Ali Rustam ?

Yeah . You have just crashed your votes from PPP's members ... perhaps if this news spread out .... I don't think MCA and MIC like you to be the CM next term . You might be sent into early retirement if the other components of BN launch an official protest .

Not even PAK LAH will side you for being so power crazy and foregoing unity among BN . PPP might be small compared to MCA and MIC or Gerakan . But don't forget what happened to TDM when he lost in Kedah once ... he lost due to the sway of 3000 Chinese votes .

In elections , every vote is important , Datuk Wira Ali Rustam . Image is important . There was once a quote I read on politics . Politics is about perception of the candidate ... substance is just a decoration . Sir ... you have just created a great hoo haa for yourself .

Words have been said . The damage is done . It is impossible to tell your Media Secretary to come out and fix things . I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E .... !!! Maybe you should ponder early retirement Sir !

Nitty witty issue ?

SPCA is stepping up on their efforts relative to animals . These days , I receive newsletters from SPCA after my email to the President of SPCA Malaysia condemning the inhumane and illogical act of Datuk Tang and the Council of Selayang recently .

I stress again my disapproval against the actions of Datuk Tang and the Director of MPS . News lately from SPCA's newly established blog reveal all about the Animals Department of our local councils . Not sure what these department are called ... I think should be Bahagian Perlesenan dan Haiwan or something like that .

Wow . The way the dogs are caged and treated ? That is really bad , Sir ( Director of MPS ) ! I understand that dogs are not in line with the Muslim religion . I shall not step foot into religious issues . It is scientifically true that some dogs are not clean and dangerous . Religious wise , I am a Muslim religion friend . However , I believe religion teaches us to be humane and to treat all creations of God like our properties . The dogs in the cages of MPS seem to be wet all the time , even young puppies !!! Their food is constantly soaked wet in water filled bowls !!

Read the blog .... and you will understand . If you drop a comment telling me "Oh ... so what if they are treated like that ?" , then I seriously dont know what to say to your inhumane and satanic heart .

Innocent animals and puppies having to suffer like that ? And the latest news release from SPCA tells us about the many feline in SPCA . They look adorable , young and innocent . Cats you know ? Sigh .

Malaysians are a useless lot of people when it comes to animals . We are not at all educated about being responsible owners . We are not properly advised of the right channel to go through , the consequences ... the feelings of other species .

How Disappointing

Wow . Didn't know the Malaysian Council elections in ACT were over already today . I initially had an intention to run for office . Anyway , forget it . Disappointing of me not to check the dates .

Well well . Yeam was surprised why I wasn't in MSO committee . Not surprising for a demotivated guy like me . I don't see the purpose of running for office here among ACT Malaysian students . Simply because the activities are traditional . We have Malam Kenduri , Malam Merdeka , Hawker Night , Dessert Nite , and some other night . That's all we have . All food .

Haha . Not my type of organization and the way things are run around .... its certainly not my type . Hmm .... well well ...

Just came back from Dickson Shops ... ate some vegetarian food , bought some sauces to cook for the weeks to come . And there are about four weeks left before I fly home to Malaysia !!

Will be in Ipoh beginning 17th November night . But wont meet up with friends till perhaps 20th November ? Need some time to rest and meet my grandma , aunts , spend time with parents .

Perhaps might drop by KL some day I hope ? Then go up to Penang and Sungai Petani for a while . After that ... head off to HK for family holz .... and then back to Australia in January for summer school !

Packed days .... very limited days in Malaysia this time . Sigh . How disappointing to think about all these events .

Dear Datuk Shafie Apdal

Sir , I respect the fact that you are an elected representative , a seated Member of Parliament and doing public service with an office called Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister .

However Sir , the total number of Ministers with chauffeurs are less than a 100 . Let us add another 1 million rich Malaysians who can afford drivers . Also , let us be less restrictive and add another 5 million Malaysians who can still afford any price hike of fuel in Malaysia .

In total , we have approximately 25 million Malaysians . Minus all those figures above , assuming the 100 people in Putrajaya is insignificant , we have 19 million Malaysians who suffer from higher price of oil . This is because it will affect not only our cars but also our daily consumption of food , our sundry , electricity prices will soon go up ... lets see ... what else , Sir ?

Sir , you will come out together with the other Ministers shouting in newspapers ,"THERE IS NO REASON WHY OTHER PRICES SHOULD RISE AFTER WE RAISE OUR PETROL PRICES . WE WILL HAVE ENFORCEMENT TEAMS GOING AROUND TO ENSURE THAT PRICES ARE CHECKED AND UNCHANGED ".

Sir , many times we have read and hear those . After a few weeks , we have you guys standing at the podium announcing a price hike in Milo , a price hike in Chicken , higher prices for eggs .... and the many more items you can think of .

Sir , I myself loves to take public transport . The system in Australia is punctual . If the time says at 5.45pm the bus will leave Canberra for Sydney , it sure will . The same goes for busses in the city . But in Malaysia , we have busses screaming "Aaahh mari mari ... Pudu ke Klang , Pudu ke Klang ..... mari mari !!"

Then when you board that bus , wow ... some had to wait an hour . Why ? Because the bus drivers want to fill up the bus before he moves ! The busses for inter - state is even worst . They will ask you " Aaah brother...... mana nak pi ?" .

Answer any place . They will say "Oh ada ada ... bas ini syarikat XXX ... VIP seats ada ...... bas sekarang sudah ada ..... "

That was how I got cheated 3 times . Out of the 3 times , twice I had to wait for four hours . Because they sent me to the last platform in pudu . I think it is platform 39 . This platform .... everyone is simply stuffed into busses and there is no law and order here . That is why from these experiences , I always take Sri Maju busses or parents will send me around (EVEN THOUGH IT IS INTERSTATE) . I am pretty sure the busses running around in Malaysia ... at least 10 - 20 % are unlicensed . The same goes with the tragedy in Tioman Island where the ferry sank due to fire .

Speaking about the ferry issue , lets see ... we once have the busses operating unlicensed and lives had to be sacrificed before the Government from all levels shout out "I WANT A FULL DETAILED REPORT ON THAT" . What a comedy ! Now we have the ferry issue ... again the statement ,"GIVE ME A FULL REPORT AND SUSPEND THE OPERATOR" .

After lives are gone ... only then we take action . Why then can such a HUGE FERRY operate without license over there !? I don't get it . Does that mean I can drive a car with a Malaysian Government logo around and nobody will do anything about it ? Does that mean I can also own ferries and busses just like that and nobody cares ?

Now now . We had the bus incident . Now the ferry one . Both are transporation issues . What next ? Unfit trains on the rail ? Bad condition airplanes ? Might be . After all , the land transporatation problem occured..... the water one happened as well .... the next one should be air or rail . My advise ? Take a look at both .

In Shah Alam , the self declared MODERNIZED STATE's capital , there are soooooooo many bus stops . But none tells the time when the bus will come , what bus will come , and where that bus is heading to .

Sir , how then with all these problems can we expect to factor in higher future price of fuel into our budget constraints ? How Sir ? I suggest the Government makes a deal with us the public . NO FUEL HIKE UNTIL THE DAY WE HAVE PROPER PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION .

Also , stop making statements that will cause panic among the public Sir . It will cause a frenzy of price hike in food and sundry .

Don't be a hero .

Selamat Hari Raya

Well well , another year is about to be completed . Sigh , don't you think time passes so fast ? I hate missing Hari Raya . It is the time where I get to eat Cikgu Sidek's satay , rendang and cookies . All handmade by him ! Though I know his wife cooks some other dishes which are delicious too .

Haha . Anyway , it is the 2nd Raya I'm missing . Sigh . I miss Malaysia ! I seriously have not visited the buka puasa stalls or bazaar for two years !!!!!

Arrrgh . Frustrating don't you think ?

Anyway , Selamat Hari Raya to all my readers and my dear friends especially ! I believe I dropped a SMS to all my Muslim friends . But I could have missed some . So , selamat hari raya to you and your family . I wish you all a very happy and memorable festive season !

The Fight For Democracy ?

Time and time again , civilization has not showed us how good democracy as a whole in the nation is as compared to "democracy" in a single united party ruling the administration .

This of course is not a reference to the giant Barisan Nasional of Malaysia .

In Hong Kong , some people ( not all - just a handful ) are screaming the words "WE WANT DEMOCRACY" . To me , and I've just heard from a friend of mine Yu Jin , Hong Kong is the nearest model of economy to a "free economy" model .

It is the best possible example . And though the cost of living there is high , so are the wages , payrolls and lifestyle . Was trying to book some hotels in Hong Kong for my tour there this year , the prices are rocket high ! Though in Aussie Dollars in would seem like normal prices . Haha .

Anyway , the economy there is flourishing , everything there seems good . Government running the country well , no military oppression , no discrimination , no supreme crime rates . We all know that triads in Hong Kong are powerful , but crime rates are still low and Hong Kong is not only a land of peace and harmony , it is also a land of opportunities like America . It is where wealth spills like mad , business opportunities pop up for you and voila - you are rich !

Democracy in the sense of administration of Hong Kong ? I don't get it . Why not fight the powerful Li Ka Shing ? I once read a magazine - either Fortune or Business Week ... can't remember... an article in it said Li Ka Shing is so powerful in Hong Kong that he can decide to cut water supplies and electricity to Hong Kong anytime he wants !

He controls a huge chunk if not all of the ammenities in Hong Kong . He owns basically all the basic necessities of human survival in Hong Kong . And this includes telecommunications because without phones and internet , you will suffer these days . And of course I am talking about electricity and water . If he decides to threaten the HK people , boom !

So you see . Isn't Li Ka Shing a more dangerous man to the agenda of Hong Kong's future compared to the march of Democracy against the ruling of People's Republic of China by putting a puppet admin in Hong Kong ?

Puppet you may say . But the administration in Hong Kong basically runs Hong Kong by themselves quite well . Did President Hu or President Jiang ever ordered a Tsim Tsa Tsui police officer to shoot anyone they want ? No . Have they ever said ... we want the fuel price in HK to rise 500% tomorrow and we want a higher income tax rate at 70% ?

HK is not like the much needed democratic model in Myanmar . HK is not like Pakistan . HK is nowhere near a Junta rule . HK is HK with tourists flowing in , ships and containers carrying goods in and out , flourishing economy with a superb bunch of tycoons and life seems all right there .

Don't start arguing about poverty in HK with me . I've said before that poverty can never be eradicated in this world . It is because we have a benchmark for poverty levels and time after time , the US revise their poverty level calculations . And the results are always the same . Poverty exists . But that's not the point . HK ... a business district ... poverty is the reason for the march of democracy ? Rubbish !

Now . Why then the fight for democracy ? In Hong Kong , there are not many people holding office and running Hong Kong because it is under the administration of China . Hong Kong is like a state ... like Sabah and Sarawak in Malaysia .

If indeed HK is given a full fledged independence , it will mean that there will be more positions in the upper office to be filled ...

Now now .... does this mean that the initiators of HK's quest for democracy are power hungry or the quest really came out deep down from their hearts ?

Are they willing to risk their life fortune , their lifes and their family for the sake of democracy ? I wonder . Every rational person will fight for something that they think is beneficial and worthwhile in return . So what do the people of HK who scream "WE WANT DEMOCRACY" want ?

Is the democratic model better ? Look at the United States , look at Malaysia and look at Japan . With democracy , there are many subpoenas issued , many scandals , many corruption and also "dictatorship within democracy" .

Within China itself , they have their own politics though they are run by a single party . It is democracy within a single party in a country . I believe . In Japan , democracy is unstable even within a single party .

Is HK willing to risk their future with possible political instability ? Some HK people scream out loud "LET US DECIDE OUR OWN FATE" . This message was loud and clear from all over HK aimed at Beijing . But then , what is it that you want to decide on ? It is not like HK's administration is sitting down doing nothing at all . It is not like the councils in HK , the legislative arm , the law enforcers and the public servants are sitting around and "yumcha" every day without bothering what's happening .

HK is all right now . They are flourishing , living their lives well . That is why I believe many of the Hong Kong artists and people joined the HK - China celebration a couple of months back . Nothing is bad under China currently except at some provinces where the air quality can choke us to death . Other than that , till today , I can't see the reason for the fight of democracy in HK against China .

Make no mistake . I am not a communist and I don't have anything against Li Ka Shing . I don't want Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz (DNA) shouting in Parliament tomorrow that I have the brains of a communist and I am a threat to the national security . Make no mistake DNA . I am somewhere a mix between pro democracy and communism . But my idea is , HK is safe and sound now with their current model . There is no need to change .

No Internet

How does it feel without internet for two days ? That is what I have been experiencing since Friday . Sigh . Internet connection in our rooms were all down . According to news , ANU is upgrading some modules and optics cable I think . Hmm ... but it sure feels bad without internet !

IJN Media Release

MEDIA STATEMENT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Institut Jantung Negara, 4th October....YABhg Tun Dr Mahathir bin Mohamad spends more time sitting up as he continues to gain strength in his post surgical rehabilitation process.

Eleven days into his second surgery for wound debridement, he is now able to consume home-cooked food. It is vital for Tun Dr Mahathir to continue to get good nutrition to build up his strength.

IJN doctors are happy that his vital parameters continue to be stable. Tun Dr Mahathir will continue to be warded at the Intensive Care Unit.

Make the Senate Useful

In countries like US and Japan , the have different houses of democracy . Their Upper and Lower house , their Minority and Majority leaders as well as their Senate and Congress are full functioning and efficient .

Today , we need to ask ourselves . What is the Senate there for ? Do they serve the public ? Are they useful in anyway ? Of course we all know Senators also debate on motion .... bla bla bla .

But , are they effective ? No . Because whatever the Senators say or decide , everything is useless ! Dewan Rakyat don't care what outcomes are from the Senate meetings .

And thus , what is the Senate there for ?? As far as I can see , it is useful only to the PM of Malaysia . This is because whenever he wants to fill a ministerial post and the chosen one is not a MP , the PM can then elect him as a Senator and .... taaadaaaa ... Minister of XYZ Dept.

We need to make the Senate useful . Turn it into a Congress ala US style . Make it functional in check and balance , listening to the public , and serve the people . Check and balance should be on the top list of the portfolios of Senators . Amend the laws and make Senators more powerful . We do not need to wait a week or a month to have an Independent Panel set up whenever a scandal occurs and there exists a public outcry .

Let the Senators have the power to summon anyone to appear in Dewan Negara and answer on record to the Senate on issues involving the accused . Let it run like a mini High Court . Also , we should allow the Senators to form units to monitor activities of ministries , organizations and individuals . Any "funny and weird" activities moving around , issue a subpoena !

And that is one way on how we could make things better back home .

Congratulations to Datuk Shaziman . Well done in making the 999 the sole and core emergency number instead of us having so many . I'm glad to hear that even you yourself felt confused at times about the numbers 991 , 994 etc . That is how the public feels as well . You can't expect a Ah Pek or a Pakcik at the age of 80 seeing a fire happening and thinking what is the Fire Dept Emergency Number , right ?

Well done to you and your Ministry for fixing this .

Where is the Law , DNA ?

DNA . We know you are in charge of the judiciary and the Parliament . However , I believe the Government and the Royals should come up with a proper guideline for this portfolio . It is truely questionable as to the authority , spread of wings and power of this ministerial portfolio .

Also , the three men panel has been set up . I believe they will be independent . However , there need to be laws and guarantees that those who step up to "tell all" will be given full protection by security and laws and their identity will be kept a secret to all except the 3 men panel who must take an Oath , the Prime Minister of Malaysia , and the Malay Rulers Council .

Then , I believe we will have a lot of juicy stories not only in this Lingam-Fairuz issue but also in perhaps more facts and happenings in the future .

Congratulations to The Loaf

We can call it successful perhaps due to Dr Mahathir's name and shares in this business . Just by mentioning his name , everyone knows how influential he is , and how charismatic he is .

Now , instead of leading a country , he has retired . I would prefer to describe him now as a supplier of superb quality food . Bread . Now he is leading us not only in check and balance to the rotting government , but also in satisfying our desires for bread .

Well done for the successful opening of a branch at The Pavilion KL ! Will go there and grab some items to try once I get back home to Malaysia !

Kepakaran KJ

KJ oh KJ . Of all the stories I read , you are indeed a brilliant Oxford graduate . But to read so many events of you being involved .... it is truely spectacular .

First we have the famous protest note to Condoleeza Rice . We all saw how the demonstrations went on and how you guys charge forward . Then , people are claiming you hijacked the protest of Junta ruling at the Burmese Embassy ??

My my . What a heroic act . I remember once seeing a time capsule with a message inside during a ceremony / celebration when Tun was the PM . The first ever if I'm not mistaken in Malaysia .

And from Rustam Sani's blog , I read a surprising paragraph .

On two occasions, Khairy did the honour of unfurling the Malaysian flag and of leading the procession of youths to present a capsule – to be opened 50 years later – to the PM. The latter even shouted “Merdeka!” seven times, exactly as the Tunku did fifty years ago.

All I can say is ... wow ... you guys are "heroic".

This is to allow doctors to closely monitor and observe his overall condition following admission for a second coronary bypass surgery on September 4.

While it may seem time consuming, doctors’ focus will be on improving his nutritional status and gradually strengthening his muscles.

Calm Down

Firstly , the word calm down should go to the PM's Dept . I believe the PM's Dept called the FRU and the police force to safeguard Putrajaya during the Lawyers' March .

Of course demonstrations are highly dangerous in our country because Malaysia is never used to having peaceful and learned demonstrations like in the Western countries . Asia has a long history of bloody demonstrations . The word bloody here is not to emphasize the word "demonstrations" like we use to say "that blardy fool" . But it is really the word associated with the red blood .

I can easily name many . In Taiwan , Korea , Indonesia and Thailand , we have parliamentarians protesting in Parliaments . We have Members of the Noble House trading punches and throwing chairs . We have mass demonstrations and ended up grabbing the President out of the palace .

Asia is not only the continent that has this problem but what I'm saying that Asia is notorious for these bloody demonstrations . Of course towards the West we have Argentina's former President having to flee the Presidential Palace in chopper .

I of course cannot blame the PM's Dept if they called in the FRU and the PDRM . I still remember seeing a TV3 car smashed in KL during the Anwar Ibrahim topic . We can see through television , national media as well as independent media who the protesters were . Through dressing and attitude , many assumed them to be young Malaysian kids and some even went to the extent to say that they were mainly foreign workers . How true these were , we don't know . But what I can say is I don't remember seeing people in suits or people with grey hair , or women in proper attire involved in the protests in 1998 .

Through the pictures of the Lawyers' March , there are men and women in suits . Men in suits of course have a history of being violent like in Taiwan , Korea . But in this Lawyers' March of Justice , the demonstration consists of mainly learned people who are lawyers , famous bloggers (you can use the word notorious bloggers if you want , Mr PM) , and the media . People of these background , do you need a water cannon in front of the PM's Dept ?

I believe Mr Edmund and Rockybru wanted this protest to be a peaceful one . And with such a prominent background in the pack of demonstrators , will they try to be funny ? What I do not understand is the denial of entry of the buses into Putrajaya .

As far as I know , I have been to Putrajaya's JPA Dept a few times for my travel , study and the Perdana scholarship candidacy arrangements and meetings . Each time I was there , I see commercial buses ferrying passengers there . I don't really know why you stop the buses . Perhaps the figure 5km is enough to make these demonstrators who were in suits and formal attire to turn back and go home ?

I was surprised to read that the lawyers were cheerful during their 5km walk to Putrajaya . 5km , my friends , is no small matter walk when you are in formal attire .

And I even read that it rained ? Not very sure what time it was raining . Perhaps some cloud seeding ? Well well ... I am not trying to create stories here ... but I remember Tun used a phrase before ,"The world loves conspiracies" .

Secondly , I would like to advise the public to calm down and not blame the administration of AAB . We should not even blame TDM for this . In the US and UK , many of us know they even have lobbyist organizations . They do things like the Lingam - Fairuz - Tengku Adnan case .

Perhaps we can see whoever is involved in getting Fairuz to be the CJ as lobbyists . I know many will not agree to this .

In Malaysia , we call it .... what is that you say .... fixing of judges ?

Anyway , firstly , AAB is not involved in this at all . So , I hope bloggers do not go crazy in forums or postings and start attacking an innocent man . TDM is also an innocent man . He sits at the highest office in Malaysia . And he receives advice and recommendations from his advisors on many issues .

Appointment of the CJ should be clear and independent of any motives and presented to the PM at that time . However, a lawyer playing a part in the appointment of the CJ together with Cabinet members , this might be a juicy scandal .

Issues like this , any commission answerable to the public , the Malaysian Govt , the Bar Council and the Parliament of Malaysia headed by the Yang Di Pertuan Agong will be sufficient . Any commission investigating this should be independent and not politically affiliated . I believe Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye has a good history and is qualified . I am not sure of the other two who are appointed .

So we should all calm down and look at this positively and await a positive result . We should not get all hot up and start blasting away without proper thoughts .

At this time , we should also ask DSAI why was the tape released now and not before . When was the tape received by the Opposition and who recorded it . Maybe the "who recorded it" part can be ignored to safeguard the identity of this person .

Moreover , we have other cases now as well . We also should not be diverted of our attention of the PKFZ scandal . That involved billions of Malaysian Ringgit . Billions .

All right then . The most important thing is , we are a peaceful nation and we should do things the proper way and approach issues in a calm manner .

Have a good day !

What A Joke !!

Was browsing through Malaysia-Today.net and shocked to read such a headline ... Malaysia hopes VW will rescue Proton , posted by RPK and written by Forbes .

So I went to Forbes.com to check out the article . The headline was even "better" . Malaysia Holds Out Hope For VW Rescue Of Proton . For those of you who lead Proton in the management team , what have you got to say ?

Maybe you should have a "For Immediate Release" press statement .

Let me design one for you .

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Proton Holdings , Malaysia's national carmaker , had RM 2 billion in cash not long ago . However , because of a dispute with Tengku Mahaleel in terms of direction of Proton's goals , the shareholders and board members decided not to renew his contract . Today , the management under Dato' Mohammed Azlan bin Hashim and Dato' Haji Syed Zainal Abidin bin Syed Mohamad Tahir , could not exploit the advantage we had from Tengku Mahaleel's time . Due to various reasons which include operation costs , costs of parts , global commodity prices and competition in the local and international industry , we have reached a decision to send a message to the automobile industry to come save us . We totally need help and please rescue us .

What a joke !! TDM warned us all along that the transaction of MV Augusta and Gevi Spa was a mistake . And yes indeed , BMW bought a subsidiary for an amount unimaginable to Proton's financiers . Of course , we were "right" to sell MV Augusta at that point taking into account all factors , according to Datuk Seri AAB , Proton , and the Malaysian Government .

I just hope we can maintain Proton . Maybe you should sell Proton to Tengku Mahaleel , TDM and his family , Syed Mokhtar , Teh Hong Piow , Vincent Tan , Gnanalingam , Ananda Krishnan . Let these people form a consortium and takeover Proton . I believe that will be better . I think at this point of time , Proton is worth .... RM 4 ?

Maybe . But what a joke . Forbes said that "Malaysia Holds Out Hope For VW Rescue Of Proton " .

Let Us All Pray

I was sad to read from Marina's blog about Dr Mahathir's condition . Having to go through a second operation in less than a month , that is not a small issue . I hope Dr Mahathir recover as soon as possible . We would all like to hear the witty Dr Mahathir again .

We should all pray for his quick recovery . I hope the doctors in IJN will take good care of a statesman .

SPCA - Manifestogwl

I keep receiving SPCA Newsletters these days after I emailed them about my opinions on the ever intelligent program by MPS .

Hmm . So an idea came up . I've decided to put all the newsletters that I receive from SPCA up on a blog site .

And thus , the birth of SPCA - Manifestogwl

Hope it helps to spread the goodwill and efforts of SPCA . Would love to support their recent charity sale and gala dinner , but sadly , I'm at least 8 hours flight away from the joys of charity . Hmm . Will let my family know to see if they will be down in KL . Hopefully they will support SPCA's struggles .

ACA ? Apa tu ?

Laporan - laporan audit telah lama menunjukkan masalah penyelewengan . Penyelewengan yang terbongkar dalam laporan Audit Nasional . Namun , kerana tiada laporan dibuat , maka ACA tidak mengambil tindakan ?

Haha . Kelakar betul .

Siasatlah Laporan Audit , wahai ACA ! Tunjuklah belang mu !

Thank you , MPS

Firstly , I retract all my blasting remarks directed at MPS with regards to the Dog Hunting Competition . I am glad to read that MPS decided to scrap off this program .

Secondly , I would like to thank SPCA Selangor and their President , Christine . Thank you for doing such a wonderful job in the process of dumping this competition for good . Thank you to all the NGOs involved too .

However , I do not agree with the demonstration of 50 people few days ago . This style is low scale demonstration and demonstrations in Malaysia will not work like in US , Philippines and Indonesia . A better approach in future would be to have a showdown talk with MPS , the local MP , Datuk Tang and also NGOs .

I understand from Malaysiakini.com that the 40 MPS officials met with 5 NGO reps were not "friendly" at all . Perhaps MPS still stand by what they feel is right to them i.e. HUNT DOGS !

Nevertheless , well done . Thank you to the Director of MPS . I do not know if you voluntarily approved the scrapping of this project or you were pressured to do so . What is actually in your mind and heart now , we do not know .

Now , Datuk Tang See Hang . As far as the NGOs , SPCA and I am concerned , I do not know how long will your political career be . And yes , don't need to fume . I am attacking you personally . I do not know how you could hit the gong and put pen to paper in officiating this Dog Hunting Competition . I don't know whether you were rational at that moment . Where was the kind hearted politician , the lovely politician smile at every election , the soul appeasing words , the sweets of every voters' ears ?

Disappointing , Datuk Tang . But thank you for scrapping the project together with MPS . Do not try to be funny in future anymore . It is not funny at all , Datuk Tang . It is not logical at all , MPS . Good to hear that both MPS and Datuk Tang will be working with NGOs and SPCA especially . Go through the proper channels . We do not have police force in Malaysia for fun . They are curbing crime , ensuring peace and harmony . SPCA is here to help us with animals . Use SPCA .

Ok Datuk Tang ? Ok MPS ? Have a good day . By the way , be careful when you walk in the streets . I am pretty sure the dogs and cats and other animals in Selayang will not be friendly to the MPS officials and Datuk Tang . After all , if you declared war on another party , the other party will surely react . Every action has a reaction .

Good nite .

Fasting Month

Happy fasting to all my Muslim friends and readers .

SPCA News Release - September 5th, 2007

SELAYANG DOG-CATCHING COMPETITION SHOCKING & DISTASTEFUL, SAYS SPCA
SELANGOR, SEPT 5, 1007 –

Catch more than 150 stray dogs in 6 months and win more than RM10,000 – this is the promise from Majlis Perbandaran Selayang to the residents in that area.

Dato' Tang See Hang officiated the launching of the MPS "Dog-Catching Competition" campaign yesterday at 2pm.

This collaborative effort with the residents is to solve this problem by catching more strays. MPS claims that they have been receiving about 80 complaints every month regarding stray dogs in their municipality.

They say that they have been catching 200 stray dogs every month as part of their animal-control management, but the problem remains unsolved. Since the announcement, SPCA has been inundated with countless text messages, phone calls and e-mails from the concerned public who are shocked by this unorthodox campaign.

Although SPCA understands that animal control is vital and that the local authorities are faced with increasing stray problems, MPS is setting an unhealthy and unethical trend that encourages people to perceive dog-catching as a fun, festive and financially-rewarding sport, not unlike fox-hunting.

SPCA questions the methods that may be employed by the residents, which may cause unnecessary pain and suffering as the dogs may be maimed in the process.

SPCA is deeply concerned that this competition is a knee-jerk reaction to the stray problem, and that more pro-active measures should be implemented such as active sterilisation programs,
differential licensing for neutered and unneutered dogs, responsible pet ownership programs and making abandonment an offence under municipal by-laws.

Catching and destruction of strays is never a workable solution, as the animals caught will always be replaced by a new set of strays if irresponsible owners continue to dump unwanted animals into the streets.

The cost of clearing the street will continue to escalate. The fact remains : it's cheaper and more effective to neuter than to catch and destroy dogs.

SPCA is worried that greedy residents may also resort to catching pet dogs or dogs from other areas besides Selayang to pad their pockets. Furthermore, the residents may get bitten and injured while attempting to capture the strays.

It may backfire and encourage unscrupulous people to breed dogs as it could be lucrative as the competition goes on indefinitely – two unneutered dogs can be the source of 2,048 puppies and dogs in just 4 years.

"Strays are not an animal problem, it's a MAN-MADE PROBLEM. Hence, the prize money could have been put to better use by promoting Responsible Pet Ownership and hosting spay/neuter campaigns instead, which is a humane, cost-effective and long-term solution, " says SPCA Chairperson Christine Chin.

SPCA Selangor has over the years met with various municipal councils to introduce humane dog-catching methods and humane pound management. SPCA and DBKL have established Klinik Kembiri, a highly-subsidised spay/ neuter clinic offering financially-challenged Malaysians highly-reduced spay-neuter fees to help control the over-breeding of cats and dogs, that if not neutered would have added substantially to the stray numbers.

This highly-successful, humane and cost-effective method is practiced by animal welfare organisations all over the world. SPCA urges MPS to use the money wisely and work with us to set up weekly spay/ neuter campaigns and eventually a Klinik Kembiri. Since it's inception in 2003, Klinik Kembiri has spayed/neutered thousands of dogs and cats, and thus prevented the unwanted births of over 20 million animals, which would have otherwise caused a bigger stray problem.

The Department of Vet Services (DVS) must issue guidelines on dog-catching/ animal control management where only properly-trained dog-catchers using humane methods and equipment are employed. The pound where the stray dogs are kept should be well-maintained and provide adequate food, water and space to prevent fighting and overcrowding.

SPCA has lobbied DVS for many years to establish humane guidelines for local councils in animal-control management. The organisation even went to the extent of organising a dog-catching workshop for all Klang Valley municipal councils in 2005.

My Letter to SPCA

Dear SPCA Malaysia , I hope you represent the voices of all animals in Malaysia . I am a Malaysian student in Australia . I came across this Advertisement by Majlis Perbandaran Selayang . I believe it is high time SPCA stand up and lodge a protest .

I sincerely believe SPCA should be given higher powers in handling stray animals , educating ownership responsibilities , and taking care of the rights of animals . Please read the following link http://mps.gov.my/hanjing/dog.htmlIt is absurd to see dogs being demonized in a well developed country like Malaysia .

Elsewhere in the world , we have Animal Police Squads too . But in Malaysia , we have draconian squads that feasts on stray dogs . In fact , we might be the only country in the world that uses rifles to shoot dogs !

I strongly urge and recommend SPCA to campaign harder by gathering a network of passionate animal activists and end all discriminatory practices and absurd competitions by any party .

I also strongly recommend that SPCA lobby for greater legal rights and power as well as funds to be create not only a better animal community , but a happier public as well . I thank you in advance .

Sent an Email to SPCA , SPCA forwarded to Remembering Sheena Organization

Below was the email I received ... out of the blue .

Very sorry, but please don't forward any emails from SPCA to this email address. The SPCA in Malaysia is not like it is in UK for instance where it is very effective and has successfully carried out important education programmes.

SPCA Selangor which is more well off than the others have no interest in helping any of the other SPCA branches.

If the SPCA after over half a century in existence did their job properly in the area of EDUCATION there would be no need for groups like the Remembering Sheena Campaign ( www.remembersheena.blogspot.com), The Furry Friends Farm and Independent Pet Rescuers.

We would be very happy to relinquish all the hard work we are doing to the SPCA and happily donate to them, knowing they are doing a good job because we actually have our own careers and are dedicating so much of our free time towards this cause because we can't stand to see animals suffering.

Unfortunately this is not to be. We only see SPCA Selangor come in when there is a crisis (especially a well publicized crisis just for the publicity) and then give a lot of comments to the Press with absolutely no effort on its part to see it through.

Like the Petition to amend the Animal Ordinance 1953, SPCA gave a lot of speeches to the Press but never saw it through. RSC intitated the Remembering Sheena rally in 2005 and handed over nearly 5000 signatures to SPCA. We had many people complaining to ask what happened to the signatures as they had gone to great lenghts such as to the hospitals and malls to get signatures. Only after these complaints started appearing in the Press did SPCA make some sort of ambiguous comment and we still don't know if this Petition has been handed in. Till today no protest either from SPCA against the new Animal Act 2006 that is exactly the same as the 1953 Ordinance.

There are so many other problems which I don't have time nor want to be bothered to write about on SPCA Selangor. I'd rather focus on the REAL work which is to improve the lives of all animals in Malaysia and the way to do that is EDUCATION - not setting up a dumping ground for people to bring in strays and then euthanize hundreds everyday without teaching society the value of a life.

RSC will help anyone who genuinely wants to help animals but we don't wish to be dragged into publicity stunts only for the sake of names to appear in the papers and absolutely no improvement in the lives of animals in the country.

We don't normally comment about other "ineffectual" work, but in view of the number of forwarded mails received from SPCA and about SPCA we have had to send out this letter (much to our dissatisfaction).

We hope you will respect our wishes and once again for all those who are "genuinely" seeking to help animals, we are at your service.

Thank you and God bless,
Shoba Mano.

Wahai Al Muslimin

"I suggest to these stray dog lovers, why dont you adopt all the stray dogs and feed them and place them in your kitchen so that the stray dogs wont prowl around to bite children."

The above comment was from a blog entry in :

http://almuslimin2.blogspot.com/2007/09/another-idiotic-group-that-support.html

Now now my dear fellow Malaysian . There are people out there who have tried to adopt the stray dogs and let them live in their homes . Remember the Chinese man we all read in papers ? He saw a few of his dogs shot dead by the authorities who barge into his home . Dead ... the dogs have been living with him for some time ... they are like his children .... but were murdered .

There are many people out there who tried to help reduce stray dogs . I personally know one kind and lovely lady who does this kind of thing . Sending to SPCA will mean putting the dog to sleep . But she keeps it at her home . Her neighbours did not object thankfully . And there are quite a number of dogs living in her home . I will not tell you where , how many dogs , who is this lady so don't bother asking .

She lives with her dogs peacefully everyday . She goes to the market to get some meat and food from kind sellers . These sellers know she is doing not only a good thing for the society .... but also for the dogs to live their lives out till the end . They offer her meat for free or at minimal price level .

And till today ... till today ... the dozens of dogs she live with have never attacked her ... never my friend . Did the dogs attack the Chinese man reported in The Star ? No they didn't . I think they tried attacking the authorities ...

Why ? Don't be foolish to ask me why . If I pose a threat to the United States , will they come get me or will they let me sit around and do whatever I want ?

So you see ... dogs do not see children as chicken meat you know . Kids are naughty just like you and me were in the old days . Yeah ... do you remember ?

Kids are not that mature ... they see dogs like tigers .... like rabbits ... they feel scared but they think that the animal is cute .

So what do kids do ? Yes .... they stand at road sides and pick up whatever they see and throw at the animal . Unless of course their parents do educate them at home or on the spot that animals are also part of the lovely creation of God . I have seen young Chinese kids throwing pebbles or sticks at dogs .

They do not mean anything . Kids are in fact afraid because they have never been in contact with any dogs ... but they find them special and different and always wanting to get some reaction from the doggies .

But not all dogs reply with just a bark . Some will chase the kids . Some will chase the old people who attacked them in the first place . And what do you know next ? We have The Star , NST , Utusan , The Sun , Harian Metro all over the place reporting about "BAD DOGS" .

Yeah . We never sit down to analyze the behavior of animals . What have we done to our rational thoughts ? Perhaps we are guided and motivated by informal education .... perhaps we are blinded by development .

Nevertheless ... animals are soon running out in population . Soon our descendants will be asking us ,"What the HELL did you do with these animals !?"

Why ? Because they will only be seeing pictures of dogs , cats , tigers , elephants . And it might cost them a bomb to visit the only zoo located somewhere in the world . What will that make us ? A generation of sins of course .

Today I Shall Break My Principle

I am always an animal lover . From feline animals ... to those with wings.... to those with fins.... and to anything with tails ... I like my zoo visits when I was young ....

You see.... animals are creation of God regardless of what religion you believe in . Muslims , Christians , Buddhists and Hindus believe that animals are creation of God , just like us being one of the marvellous creations .

Note : I do not remember any religion motivating people to catch any animal as a sport or competition

In Malaysia , we don't see tigers running around the streets . We see dogs and cats .... once a while we see iguanas .... squirrels perhaps in less populated areas ....

But the question is why do we only target dogs ? Of course many argue that dogs attack human . Erm , if one day I come over to slap Mr X , will Mr X give me five fingers + palm = slap ? Or will he give me a hug + handshake = friendship ?

The same goes with any animal . You attack a bull .... sorry lah ... the bull will attack you . So it is with dogs . I can assure you 90% of the stray dogs are merely hunting for food around ... and they wont harm people unless they are harmed .

I know one of my granduncle ... though he is a nice person ... I still remember seeing him wanting to beat a harmless dog that was passing by him one day . So yes .... you see ... the reports we read in papers.... it gives me suspicions of which party started the "fight" first between the human and the dog ... dogs cant defend themselves in human words .... so we all trust our fellow human right ?

Let me present some facts to you about the danger of cats roaming around . I am not trying to wage war on cats .... but let me tell you that danger of animals running around the streets do not come from dogs only .

Allow me to quote one of the articles written .

By Rodl P

The population of stray cats in towns expands due to irresponsible behaviour of humans who allow them to enter cellars, hot water canals, store rooms etc. As a result of frequent feeding some specimens become tame, lose their shyness and on contact with humans and domestic animals they can become the source of some infectious agents. The most important of thus transmitted diseases is rabies. Cats become infected from foxes on rubbish heaps on the periphery of communities. More than 60% of cases of rabies of domestic animals are found in cats. Toxoplasmosis--cats excrete the infectious stage of the causal agent in their excreta. In the same manner also the agent causing intestinal salmonelloses is excreted. More than 5% cats are infected. Via excreta also the causal agents of toxocariasis are spread--the larvae of cat thread worms settle in the internal organs of humans (larva migrans). The assumed incidence in cats is as high as 50%, as suggested also by the high positivity of specimens from children playgrounds. Stray cats may be the source of agents causing various dermatomycoses and of ectoparasites.
